Every year the rates for tour guides are being updated. The rates are in Turkish Lira, depending on the inflation ratios the rates are being updated.

When you calculate the rates for hiring a tour guide in Turkey with the Exchange rates in US Dollars and Euros, it generally comes to 90 US Dollars or 85 Euros each year.

To see how much a private tour guide costs in Turkey we check the rates published by the official authorities. The prices for tour guides in Turkey are arranged by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

To see how much a private tour guide cost in Turkey you need to check the several variables, one is the location. If the private tour guide service in Turkey is going to be given in a big city or a small city. This division of big city or a small city is made by the municipality services.
tour-map-of-turkey
There are .... Big Cities in Turkey and There are ..... Small Cities in Turkey.
For instance if you need a private tour guide in Istanbul, that's definitely a big city as Istanbul is the biggest city in Turkey.
ephesus-private-tour-guide
If you need a private guide for Ephesus for instance, the private guides for Ephesus are registered in Professional Tour Guides chambers in Izmir City or Aydin City. Both Izmir and Aydin are considered as big cities. So you will be charged with the big city tariff if you need a private tour guide for Ephesus.

If you need a private guide in Cappadocia, Cappadocia Tour Guides are residing in the city of Nevsehir which is not a big city so you will be quoted according to small city tariffs.

Does Language make a difference in private tour guide costs in Turkey?
Guide's language does not affect the price of a tour guide service in Turkey officially however, please remember that the published guiding rates in Turkey are the minimum rates so guides may charge more than what they are suggested depending on the rarity of the language they are guiding in.
diverse-tour-group
This mostly depend on their regions for example one of the rare guiding languages in Turkey is Mandarin Chines, however some regions such as Ephesus and Bodrum has the least maybe no Chinese speaking guides so in those particular locations rates of Chinese speaking tour guides will be higher than the minimum advised rates of the State.

How are the different rates on the price table for guides arranged?
The different rates on the price table for private guides in Turkey
First rate is the Day Tour Rate, for 2021 the price is 640Turkish Lira which is equal to 85US Dollars with the USD/TRY exchange rate in the beggining of the year 2021.
tour-guide-daily-rate
This rate was 479Turkish Lira in 2019 which was around 90US Dollars with the exchange rate of the time.
And in 2020 the rate was 587 Turkish Lira, it was a %20 percent raise from 2019 to 2020.
And the raise from 2020 to 2021 is not even %10.

airport-greeting
The second rate is the Transfer rate, which should be applied if the tour guide welcomes the tourists from the Airport, offers a Greeting services at the Airport then conducts the transfer from the Airport to the traveler's hotels.
Same applies for the return transfers when the tourists leaving the country.
However this rates is hardly applied and tour guides in Turkey never get paid for such service they provide. And the rates should be paid to the tour guides for offering a guiding service at Airport Transfer is 321Turkish Lira for 2021 which is equal to 43US dollars.

night-tours-evening
The 3rd rate on the list for Tour Guides Rates in Turkey for 2021 is the Evening/Night Tour. The rate is same with the transfer rate which is 321 Turkish Lira equeals to 43US Dollars for 2021. however we do not exactly know what a night tour is, what time does it start and what time it ends. I hardly know any tour guide in Turkey that he/she is paid for a night tour.

The 4th rate on the list is Package Tour Daily Rate which is 772Turkish Lira 104US dollars for 2021.
This is another unexplained service that the law is rather vague about what it includes. Especially what is the daily duration of guiding. What time can it start and what time can it end.
package-tours
We know that this rate covers most of the multi-day tours around Turkey mostly 10 days to 2 weeks long tours. The rate is the daily rate no matter how long the tour lasts.
Some days can be pretty long up to 12 maybe 14 hours of durations. Some days may include evening / night activities and early morning before sunrise activities such as Balloon Rides etc. The package tour rate does not state any additional service.

employed-tour-guides
The 5th and the last rate on the price list of tour guides in 2021 is Monthly salary rates. And that is 6400Turkish Lira which is equal to 860US Dollars in 2021. So if you want to employ a professional tour guide in Turkey for a month, you need to pay him/her 860US Dollars.
This rate is calculated with the minimum daily wage multiplied with 18 days.
As if the tour guide worked 18 full days for the employer. This is valid only for tour companies and travel agencies that hire tour guides as their personnel minimum for a season of 4 months up to a Year. So if anyone plans to hire a guide for just one month can't get away with this bargain.

insurance-for-tour-guides
We need to remember that the rates mentioned on the list are NET Rates that should be paid to the tour guides.
none of the rates mention on the list include TAX, V.A.T, Social Security, Accommodation (If necessary), Extra Transportation (If necessary), Food (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) if necessary on the tours.

So employers or tourists should expect to pay the %15 Income Stopage Tax, %18 V.A.T., Daily Social Security around 40Turkish Lira
